To the best of our knowledge, this is the first documentation on the production of C10-HSL in P. cremoricolorata strain ND07 produced N-octanoyl-l-homoserine lactone (C8-HSL) and N-decanoyl-l-homoserine lactone (C10-HSL). ![]() Using high resolution triple quadrupole liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, it was confirmed that P. cremoricolorata strain ND07 activated the AHL biosensor Chromobacterium violaceum CV026. High resolution mass spectrometry analysis of these extracts confirmed that Enterobacter sp. isolate T1-1 activated the biosensor Agrobacterium tumefaciens NTL4(pZLR4), suggesting production of long chain AHLs by these isolates. Yin, Wai-Fong Purmal, Kathiravan Chin, Shenyang Chan, Xin-Yue Chan, Kok-Gan Long Chain N-acyl Homoserine Lactone Production by Enterobacter sp. The assay can be used to screen cultures of bacteria for acyl-homoserine lactones, for quantifying the amounts of these molecules produced, and as an analytical and preparative aid in determining the structures of these signal molecules. These were identified as the 3-hydroxy- forms of N-hexanoyl-, N-octanoyl-, and N-decanoyl-l-homoserine lactone.
